Our 2021 best bits at The Lake District Umbrella Company
Posted on 24th December 2021 at 15:19
Phew! What an incredible year we’ve had at The Lake District Umbrella Company.
2021 has been the year where so many of our business dreams came true, and we’re super excited to see what happens next.
A momentous year
As 2021 was such a momentous year for us, we thought we would dedicate a blog to our top highlights, to both show gratitude and remind ourselves how far we’ve come… it’s a good idea to blow your own trumpet every now and again!
Let’s get started…
2021 is the year where we feel our signature styles at the Lake District Umbrella Company were really defined.
We’re very happy with our current range, the classy Derwent, sport Windermere, handy Coniston and children’s Puddle Duck.
Of course, we’re definitely open to introducing new designs and colorways in 2022, but we’re proud of our current offering of Lake District themed umbrellas.
Partnering with Ecologi
A huge highlight is partnering with Ecologi, a UK based organisation dedicated to planting trees and funding climate crisis solutions. This means for every umbrella purchased, one tree is planted.
We reached the wonderful milestone of 500 trees planted in August, and we’re well on our way to the next goal!
Being a responsible business is of utmost importance to us at the Lake District Umbrella Company, and it feels great to be making a green impact with our sales.
Collaborations with local businesses
Joining forces with lots of fantastic local businesses who stock our brollies has been fantastic.
We want to say a big thank you to Hayes Garden World, Chestnut House, Gifts by the Lake, Coniston Stonecraft, Kirkby Lonsdale Information, Todds of Kendal, The Barn and Chestnut House at Pooley Bridge and Windermere Information.
It’s lovely to see our umbrellas and upcycled umbrella stands in local stores, and we love seeing how our stockists display our brollies themselves - Hayes Garden World has done some particularly creative displays!
We also have to give a special mention to our collaborations with Coniston Stonecraft, on our beautiful slate umbrella stands and rain catchers.
Getting a stockist in Northern Ireland
We couldn’t give a shoutout to our wonderful stockists without mentioning our friends all the way over in Northern Ireland, Hillside Nursery Centre in Newtownabbey.
It’s so exciting to see our Lake District themed brollies branching out, and that a little magic from this wonderful area of the UK is being spread far and wide.
Our shiny new website went live in October, and makes it easier than ever to get your hands on a Lake District Umbrella Company umbrella.
It’s great to also have a place to share our green business statement, and to share insights and updates on this blog.
Upcoming collaborations with Cumbria Wildlife Trust & Manchester Pride
These collabs are all a bit hush hush at the mo (how very mysterious of us), but we’re looking forward to sharing more with you soon.
Protecting local wildlife and LGBTQ+ equality may be different subjects, but they’re both causes close to our heart and that we’re extremely passionate about.
Booking a exhibition place at Glee 2022
Although this is happening next year, it was all organised in 2021, so we say it definitely counts!
Glee is the UK’s top garden and outdoor trade show, it takes place at the Birmingham NEC with the 2022 show falling on 28th - 30th June.
It’ll be a fab opportunity for us to exhibit our brollies, meet with buyers from garden centres and other businesses across the UK - we’re very excited.
Thank you for your support
We want to take this opportunity to say thank you to each and every person and business who has purchased one of our umbrellas, to all of our followers on social media, everyone who reads our blogs - and just anyone who supports The Lake District Umbrella Company in any way!
You are helping this small Cumbrian business’s dreams come true.
Have a Merry Christmas, and we wish you a safe, happy and healthy 2022.
